Notifications and Alerts
Afterglow has two distinct notification systems: user notifications for end users in the mobile app, and system alerts for administrators monitoring platform activity.
User notifications
Section titled “User notifications”User notifications are messages delivered to individual users through the mobile app. They keep users informed about activity that is relevant to them.
Each notification includes:
- Title — A short headline (up to 200 characters).
- Body — The notification content (up to 2,000 characters).
- Type — A category that describes the notification’s purpose: System, Achievement, Reminder, Social, Content, or Coach.
- Deep link — An optional link that navigates the user to specific content within the app when tapped.
Delivery
Section titled “Delivery”Notifications are delivered in real time via a persistent connection when the app is open. When the app is in the background, push notifications are sent so users are still informed promptly.
User actions
Section titled “User actions”Users can manage their notifications directly in the app:
- View notifications in a paginated list.
- Mark individual notifications as read, or mark all as read at once.
- Delete notifications they no longer need.
Notification management is available in the Backoffice under User Notifications.
System alerts
Section titled “System alerts”System alerts are rule-based notifications designed for administrators. They allow admins to monitor important platform events and respond quickly.
Alert rules are configured in the Backoffice under System Alerts. Each rule defines:
- Trigger conditions — The platform events that cause the alert to fire.
- Recipients — Which administrators receive the alert.
- Type and severity — The classification and urgency level of the alert.
When an event matches a rule’s conditions, the configured recipients are notified automatically.
